EVENTS coming up for the winter!
The Challenge has now started! We hope you are looking forward for all discoveries you will make and for the fun coming up! Our first tip to help you becoming a serial ethical shopper will be to advertise for events happening in Brussels where you can shop with a relaxed mind. Second-hand remains the best option to be 100% sure you are shopping ethically. It might be a lot of non-ethical brands items, but now that is has been produced, shipped and bought, it is time to make the best use of it.
Sources vary, but we can be safe in saying that an average consumer throws about 10kg of clothes away a year (bed sheets and towels included). This ends up in the landfill while most of it could be reused or recycled.
Vintage fashion is today widely spread and comes as a perfect answer to our budget as well as for the planet. It allows us to be in touch with the past by having a contact with previous generations. It combines that lovely nostalgia with a very modern style, when stylistas mixes modern looks with vintage pieces, to create a contemporary style.
This is the reason why we will encourage you to think about your wardrobe but also to have a look into other's ones. Flea Markets are gold mines for who loves to frisk between hangers and piles of potential bargains. Those here under are Brussels-based events for the first part of 2015. There might be many more and we will be delighted to add them to the list, so feel free to drop us a line in case you feel we are forgetting something!

By the beginning of Spring, we will hold our first swapping event! The date is to be confirmed soon, as well as the place, as it depends on the success of the event. We will invite you to bring a few (or a lot!) pieces of cloth you don't wear anymore and that are crying for a second life. These items will be converted into our local currency in order to be able to exchange them with the community! You'll meet our challengers team & will go back home with some new items for your winter/spring looks! We'll provide a bar for homemade drinks and snacks!

The brussels Vintage Market is organized every first sunday of the month in the famous Halles Saint-Géry. The project started 4 years ago and gradually grew to become a reference in the agenda. Gathering about 40 vintage exponents and 20 young designers, the market allows a perfect mixture between second-hand and modern, local creations.
The next market will take place on sunday the 1st of February. Whether you're going there to find a new coat or some piece of designer jewellery, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy some drinks at the bar or a healthy lunch, all that in a retro musical atmosphere.

Puces d'Hiver is a winter-only (October to March) flea market held at Tour & taxis near the Hotel de la Poste. You will find a special "Vide-dressing" section with clothes and accessories from a high variety of vendors. The concept was launched this winter and we were there for the first edition! The food section will warm you up, as the place, covered for the rain, remains quite cold. We particularly appreciated homemade soups... So put on your coat and come say Hi! Next session is sunday 11th of January, and we will be there too!

New concept starting the 15th of March! Jupette & Compagnie will hold "vide-dressing" 3 to 4 times a year in Uccle, with an average of 50 exponents. It is open to everyone, you can decide to sell or just come to have a look! The entrance is 3 euros for women and free for men! There will be a bar for drinks and snacks. We'll probably be there too!
